It’s not often you see a gaming monitor with a fast refresh rate going for under $100, let alone one from a big brand, but this latest offer enables you to do just that. Thanks to Best Buy’s latest gaming monitor deal, you can now bag yourself a Samsung Odyssey G30D, complete with a 180Hz refresh rate, for just $99.99, making it half the price of Samsung’s MSRP.
This Samsung screen’s 180Hz refresh rate is the sort of spec you’d expect to find on more expensive screens, and it’s even faster than the 144Hz rate sported by some of the displays on our best gaming monitor guide. Meanwhile, the 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is ideal for this 24-inch screen, meaning pixels won’t look too chunky, and you won’t need the very best graphics card to output a decent frame rate on it either.
This Samsung Odyssey G30D screen is based on a VA panel, and in our tests this panel tech has proved to offer deep blacks and high contrast, making it ideal for watching movies and playing cinematic single-player games.
Indeed, Samsung claims the G30D has a contrast ratio of 3,000:1. The one downside to these panels we’ve found from our tests is that they’re generally not as quick to respond as IPS screens, so they’re not the best choice if you want to play competitive, fast-paced first person shooters.
There are some other notable features of this monitor too, including support for AMD FreeSync, which synchronizes the refresh rate with the frame rate from AMD graphics cards, meaning you won’t be distracted by annoying tearing artifacts. Nvidia G-Sync is likely to work as well but the display isn’t officially rated as Nvidia G-Sync compatible. It also looks good, with the top and sides having extremely thin bezels.
You even get a decent stand, rather than the fixed versions you often find on budget monitors. The stand on the G30D offers swivel, height, and tilt adjustments so you can get it set up just right on your desk. You get both HDMI 2 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs as well, so you could plug a game console into the HDMI port, with your PC hooked up to the DisplayPort connector.

What’s more, if you want an even larger screen, the 32-inch version of this monitor is also on offer right now for just $159.99 from Samsung’s website here, saving you a massive $120 on the usual price, and giving you a massive gaming monitor for a surprisingly cheap price.
