It didn’t take long after Helldivers 2 launched for it to become Sony’s biggest Steam launch of all time, and since then, it’s only continued to grow. Just recently, it hit another in a series of milestones when it breached 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. Now, the co-op shooter has one-upped itself again.
As per SteamDB, Helldivers 2’s peak concurrent user count on Steam now stands at over 250,000 players- 255,189, to be precise. At the time of writing, it’s being played by over 210,000 players. Given the fact that we’re in the middle of the week, that the game continues to attract such a sizeable audience is extremely impressive, and it should be interesting to see what the player count looks like over the course of the coming weekend.
Earlier this week, the game had more than 360,000 concurrent players across PS5 and PC (though it’s very likely the peak will have climbed higher since then). Though Sony has yet to officially announce how much the game has sold, developer Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt revealed a few days ago that it had sold around a million units.
The studio has also said that, following Helldivers 2’s better-than-expected launch, it is looking to expand its team in order to accelerate post-launch plans for the game, which will entail free new biomes, enemies, objectives, and story updates. Just don’t expect PvP support in the near (or distant) future.
